AmeriCorps

Summary: The Springfield Urban League's AmeriCorps Program is designed to engage AmeriCorps members in direct service and capacity-building to address unmet needs. Activities may include supervising, tutoring and mentoring youth, assisting disaster victims, helping with community gardens, assisting with the organization of community programs (i.e. job preparedness, healthy lifestyles, financial literacy, etc.) and also mobilize community volunteers to strengthen the capacity of the organizations where they serve.

Fiscal and Human Resources

SUMMARY: The Finance Accountant is responsible for fiscal operations including but not limited to: accounts payables, accounts receivables, payroll, budgeting, fixed assets, financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, cost accounting and special projects. Must be able to organize and prioritize workload for numerous projects/tasks at one time. An ideal candidate will be strong, flexible and able to work in a diverse environment including but not limited to fiscal, personnel, and payroll. Must be able to effectively function within the team, possess and reflect interpersonal attributes to interact with staff, vendors, community partners, and external auditors. The individual must be extremely reliable, trustworthy, and have a positive attitude toward direction.

Head Start

Summary:  Under general supervision, the Facilities Specialist is responsible for performing internal and external repairs, preventive maintenance work, and a wide variety of repairs to building and facility equipment, fixtures and systems that support the cleanliness and security of affiliate facilities. This would include but is not limited to heating and cooling, roofing, plumbing, electrical, deep cleaning, painting and equipment repair. Typically performs work in several of the common maintenance trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and/or machine & equipment repair.

Summary: The Family Resource Advocate is responsible for providing quality, comprehensive child/family support services to preschoolers and their families; providing support, training and case management to assist parents in meeting the needs of their children and enhancing parents' role as the primary influence on their child's education and development and supporting parents in increasing their economic stability; determining eligibility for program, enrolling families in program, enlisting parental involvement in child educational programs; working with parents in identifying and achieving goals; accessing support services; creating training programs; and facilitating positive parent, school and student relationships.

Summary:  The Head Start Director is responsible for assuring all the Head Start Program mandates and standards for excellence are met on a daily basis.  In addition to operating responsibility for fiscal, legal, and programmatic aspects of the program, it bears the responsibility of assuring that the program is strategically positioned for the future.  This position provides guidance and leadership to staff to emphasize the importance of the program achieving high standards of quality, internally and through public and private sector partnerships.  Assumes an active role in the annual program self-assessment.
