Medically Prescribed Formula Training

Target Audience An interactive workshop designed to provide the most current information to Registered Nurses, Dietitians and other health professional working with the Illinois WIC program on medically prescribed formulas.

Class Times 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
Description To enable the learner to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to issue medically prescribed formulas for the Illinois WIC program.
Performance Objectives 1. Identify the Illinois WIC Program Formulary and the characteristics of the formulas and medical nutritional products offered. 2. Describe participant/caregiver education regarding formula preparation and safe infant feeding practices; obtaining formulas from WIC and WIC authorized Vendors. 3. State the WIC program policy and procedure requirements for issuing medically prescribed formulas, referrals, and quality assurance of formulas issued.
