WIC Medically Prescribed Formula & Counseling Fundamentals Training
Dietitians, Nutritionists, Nurses who hold the title of Competent Professional Authority (CPA) in the WIC Program. Intended for CPAs who seek an introduction to medically prescribed formula issuance and counseling techniques used in WIC Clinic.

To onboard and provide the most current information to new Competent Professional Authority (CPA) working in the Illinois WIC program on the fundamentals of medically prescribed formulas and nutrition counseling techniques.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
Identify the Illinois WIC Program Formulary and the characteristics of the formulas and medical nutritional products offered
State the WIC Program policy and procedure requirements for issuing, educating, and referring of medical nutrition products
Describe the WIC Program policy and procedure requirements for the use of participant centered counseling skills
Demonstrate ways to provide education using participant centered counseling techniques
Date and Location of training:
Region 1: 3/1/2022: **CLASS CLOSED** Class will be conducted via Webex: registration reserved to allow region 1 staff priority.
Region 2: 5/19/2022: Class will be conducted via Webex: registration reserved to allow region 2 staff priority. **Class closed**
Region 3: 6/22/2022: Class will be conducted via Webex. Region 3 & 4 staff given priority. Staff should have a computer workstation with microphone capability or access to a direct phone line to fully participate in training. Class limited to 20 registrants.
Region 4: 7/21/2021: Class will be conducted via Webex. Priority will be given to Region 4 staff.
Region 5: 00/00/0000: 200 Potomac Blvd., Mt. Vernon, IL., 62864 - large conference room; parking lot on site.
