Includes supervising and retraining peer counselors\, practice setting\, scope of practice\, hiring strategies\, and program policies \nPRESENTER: Carole Peterson\, MS\, IBCLC (The presenter has no relevant affiliations or financial interests or arrangements.) \nPre-requisites:  open to any Peer Counselor Supervisor\, clinic supervisor or those agencies exploring the Peer Counselor Program. You must be employed at an Illinois WIC agency or health department.  You must be committed to finishing the course\, including completing all requirements and sharing information as appropriate. \nWho should attend:  Any Peer Counselor Program Supervisor that has not previously attended the A Journey Together for Managers course is encouraged to attend. \nContinuing Education Credits:  Pending:    8.5 RN     8.5 RD \nThis training will be provided in a Zoom Platform in real time.  \nFor additional questions contact:  Audrie Mumphery at audrie.mumphery@illinois.gov

DESCRIPTION:This Training is a 3 day virtual series:\nOctober 27\, 2026       9:00am – 3:00pm  (Tuesday)\nOctober 28\, 2026       9:00am – 3:00pm  (Wednesday)\nOctober 29\, 2026       9:00am – 3:00pm  (Thursday) \nThis training course provides an orientation and identifies the primary roles and responsibilities of the peer counselor.  The training will provide three-day virtual sessions. Self-study modules and homework will be assigned. Participants will be expected to complete homework assignments and tests. \nPre-requisites:  open to any new peer counselor or a peer counselor who has not taken the USDA Peer Counselor course.   You must be employed at an Illinois WIC agency or health department.  You must be committed to finishing the course\, including completing all requirements and sharing information as appropriate. \nWho should attend:  Any new Peer Counselor that has not previously attended a USDA Peer Counselor course is encouraged to attend.
