WIC Coordinator Training

Target Audience This course is specifically designed for new state and local agency staff working in a management capacity within the WIC program, especially registered nurses, dietitians and social workers.

Class Times 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
Description To enable the learner to function as an Illinois WIC Program Coordinator in order to provide required services to participants. The course includes: development of WIC clinic schedules, WIC budgets, caseload management, vendor management, reports, outreach, and other management functions. This course consists of one face-to-face day and approximately 2 hours to complete the web based curriculum.
Performance Objectives Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:Discuss the administrative duties of the WIC Coordinator, Discuss the food delivery system, Describe the certification standards, Describe the nutritional education responsibilities of a WIC Coordinator, Identify the components of the WIC Program Quality Review (WIC Management Evaluation/Quality Assurance) tool, Identify federal and state WIC program requirements for Administration, Food Delivery Systems and Certification Standards, Identify Federal and state WIC program requirements for Nutrition Education and Supplemental Foods, Describe how to utilize WIC Reports for caseload management, nutrition education, breastfeeding rates and quality assurance, Describe the WIC Coordinator responsibilities for the program services provided at the local agency level.
Special Instructions After registering, the web modules may be viewed at any time but must be completed at least 1 week before attending the face-to-face portion of the curriculum. If you have questions after viewing the web modules, please email those questions to your Regional Nutritionist Consultant prior to the face-to-face- training. The one day face-to-face portion of the training will be conducted at the regional level by the WIC Regional Nutritionist Consultants. Please contact your Regional Nutritionist Consultant for specific information on location as well as the materials list.

  • Region 3: 8/01/2019: McLean County Health Department, Room 322, 200 W. Front Street, Bloomington, IL: Parking is not available at the McLean CHD lot. Please use the Lincoln Parking garage located on 105 E. Front Street Bloomington, IL $7.00 per day.
  • Region 4:11/05/2018: Peoria City County Health Department, 2116 N. Sheridan Road, Peoria IL: Free parking is available, please utilize back section of lot.
