Performance Objectives
Upon completion of this course, viewers will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of what current research tells us about bruising and the role of implicit in overreporting families of color
- Discuss the TEN-4-FACESp bruising clinical decision rule, its meaning, and relevance
- Describe the medical and DCFS definitions of neglect, what constitutes neglect, and when neglect becomes maltreatment
- Describe how implicit bias can be involved in the determination of child abuse and neglect
- Have a conversation with a caregiver about a bruise to assess accidental from intentional bruising
