Performance Objectives
Upon completion of this course, viewers will be able to:
- Describe common concerns that providers might have when reporting a client to DCFS and the importance of speaking with the family before making a report
- Describe what happens when a report is made to the DCFS hotline including the information that is collected by the hotline worker, what happens when an investigation is opened, and the different DCFS staff involved in the intake, review, and investigation process
- Demonstrate an understanding of the role of implicit bias in mandated reporting and steps that can be taken to mitigate its role
- Describe the role of nutritionists in child abuse cases
- Describe their responsibility as a mandated reporter as it pertains to being subpoenaed and appearing in court
