The Springfield Urban League has officially opened applications for the 2025 GB Winston Scholarship, offering local students the chance to earn up to $1,000 in financial aid for their higher education journey. Designed to support first-time graduating high school seniors and current college students, this scholarship aims to alleviate financial barriers and promote academic success.
“No student should have to choose between pursuing their dreams and affording their future,” said Dr. Marcus Johnson, President & CEO of the Springfield Urban League. “That’s why the Springfield Urban League has provided over $100,000 in scholarships, ensuring that financial hardship is never a roadblock to success.”
To qualify, applicants must be a graduating high school senior or a current college student residing in Springfield or Sangamon County. They must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a non-weighted 4.0 scale and plan to attend or currently attend an accredited community college or four-year college/university as a full-time student in the upcoming academic year. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate leadership and active participation in community service.
