The Springfield Urban League is excited to invite the community to Community Resource Day on Saturday, June 21, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM—a free, family-friendly event focused on opportunity, empowerment, and employment. The event will take place at the Springfield Urban League Workforce Center, 512 S. 11th Street, Springfield, IL.

Attendees will have the chance to engage in hands-on career navigation, learn about upcoming job readiness initiatives, and connect directly with real employment opportunities. From those seeking a fresh start to those looking to advance their careers, Community Resource Day offers something for everyone.

"This is more than a job fair—it’s a launchpad," said Jonathan Barnett, newly appointed Director of the Springfield Urban League. "We’re creating a space where individuals and families can take the next step toward a more stable and fulfilling future. Our goal is to meet people where they are, and help them move forward."

Families are encouraged to attend together. The event will feature free food, games, and fun activities forchildren, so parents can explore resources while kids enjoy a safe and engaging environment.

The event is coordinated by Tives Gardner, the Urban League’s Juvenile Redeploy Caseworker, who emphasizes the value of accessibility and community. “We designed this day to remove barriers and build bridges. When people see what's possible—when they feel supported and celebrated—transformation begins. This event is about planting those seeds and providing a safe comfortable space for families to have fun as well.”

Whether you’re unemployed, underemployed, or simply looking for new direction, Community Resource Day is your invitation to explore what’s next. For more information, visit www.springfieldul.org or call
